Private psychiatric assessment,
treatment & reports
Private psychiatric assessment and treatment services are provided in a comfortable and relaxing environment by IAmCounselling's director and consultant psychiatrist Dr Iqbal Mohiuddin. He is helpfully assisted and supported by his wife Pam. Both have many years of valuable experience in the NHS.
Confidential specialist services are provided from their home in the quiet suburb of Round Green in East Luton. Parking is available with quick and easy access to the local main roads of the M1 (J10/10A), A6 (New Bedford Road), A505 (Hitchin Road/ Stopsley Way/ Vauxhall Way), A1081 (Airport Way/ London Road/ Luton Road) and B653 (Lower Harpenden Road). Luton and Luton Parkway mainline stations are also nearby, as well as London Luton Airport.
People lead increasingly stressful lives and can react to difficult situations in many different ways. This is influenced by one's upbringing and earlier development during childhood and adolescence. Genetics also play a big part and mental health problems can be inherited through genes running in families. Stress is a common trigger for the development of mental health problems.
Dr Mohiuddin listens non-judgmentally to his clients about their problems. He quickly empathises with their different feelings and thoughts, as well as their unique situations and behaviours. Clients learn to relax quickly so that they can talk freely and openly.
Past and recent experiences can be explored in a safe environment to help clients discover how these may be contributing to their present difficulties. Destructive patterns of feelings, thoughts and behaviours are identified and gently challenged so that they gradually decrease over time with patience and support. Clients are enabled to focus on positive aspects and changes in their lives so that they can move forward to facilitate their recovery.
Clients' physical, psychological and social needs, and their existing resources and strengths - their 'Human Givens' - are identified. Achievable and meaningful goals are jointly agreed upon to help clients best achieve their unmet needs over time. Preferred lifestyle choices, aspirations, values and beliefs are always respected. Clients gain a new understanding about themselves and their unique situations, which helps free them to mak
e the best choices for their future.
Counselling can also help relationships within a marriage, partnership or family to work better. All problems, past and present, can be explored and worked through together for long-term recovery and future wellbeing.
Common conditions such as depression and anxiety can be diagnosed, or indeed excluded. An evidence-based and tailor-made treatment plan is jointly agreed upon. More severe and complex problems may first need appropriate treatment with safe and effective medication. Combination with talking treatment and therapy can lead to a faster and long-standing recovery. Safe and evidence-based therapy and treatment is always given accordingly.
Specialist liaison and advice to GPs and professionals regarding clinical diagnosis and evidence-based psychiatric treatment can be provided. Independent expert psychiatric reports for the Courts, Solicitors and private organisations can be prepared following receipt of formal instructions and prior authorisation.
IAmCounselling is dedicated to providing safe, high-quality and evidence-based psychiatric services. It takes pride in making a real positive difference to its clients' lives. This is achieved through respecting and valuing clients' dignity and diversity, including age, race, gender, class, culture, disability, spirituality and sexuality.
With compassion and understanding, clients recover and enjoy life. Call Pam on 07872 920 907 to book a private consultation.
